Four days after the main Opposition Congress party showed a letter allegedly mailed by Uttarakhand BJP MLA Arvind Pandey as a complaint against Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the ruling party legislator on Monday denied writing any such letter.

Speaking to the media at the BJP headquarters in Dehradun, Pandey denied writing the letter that state Congress president Ganesh Godiyal presented four days ago on May 1. Although Pandey did not mention any pressure for the denial, party leaders in Dehradun said the state leadership, acting on instructions from the party’s central office bearers, reprimanded him, forcing him to publicly rebuke the letter. The BJP MLA, however, admitted that he spoke to the media after discussing the matter with state BJP President Mahendra Bhatt.

The BJP MLA’s alleged complaint letter, mailed to top central government functionaries, was subsequently taken up by the main Opposition after it went viral on the social media.

The viral letter had become a cause of concern for the BJP and Arvind Pandey. As the matter reached top BJP functionaries, they later instructed the state leadership to ask Pandey for an explanation. Following this Bhatt asked the MLA to publicly clarify publically if the letter was written by him or not.

This forced Pandey to clarify that he did not write any letter as the Congress party claimed. Pandey further stated that the letter was fake.

PCC chief Ganesh Godiyal had claimed that Pandey’s alleged complaint letter carried life threat to him, his son and other family members. Letter alleged that Pandey and his family members were framed in false cases and targeted by officials.
